All Year Round ASA Sailing Courses in Grenada and The Grenadines
Learn to sail with our ASA sailing courses throughout the year with SeaHorse Sailing School. Our objective at SeaHorse is, by the end of the course, to make you into a safe, confident, and competent sailor. We believe there is no quick fix to achieve this and everyone will learn at a different rate. For this reason it is important that we help you chose which one of the sailing courses is the right one for you. As well as gaining a sailing qualification you will have a great holiday in the sun.
The American Sailing Association (ASA) program has structured levels of learning, each level having its own set of standards that the student must achieve, before moving upto the next level. These levels are examined at our school. You will be taught by highly qualified and experienced instructors. Students who learn to sail with SeaHorse receive a Logbook that is signed and stamped once you have achieved each level of the ASA training standards. This logbook enables any yacht charter company to see your level of competency.
Our Most Popular ASA Sailing Courses, Available Every Month, Throughout the Year
We focus on the following courses:
If you have never set foot on a boat before, we don’t promise that you will achieve up to ASA 104 in a week. We believe that the best sailors learn and practice at a steady pace. Therefore if you have little or no experience , then we recommend that you work towards achieving ASA courses 101 and 103 within a week. This will also give you some time to snorkel, swim and just relax!
Some novices will have learned the theory thoroughly and have a natural aptitude and they may also achieve the 104…but we don’t make any promises!
Those with some boat experience can expect to get their 104/114 Bareboat/Catamaran Certificate within the weeks course. What is most important is that the theory is learned before the training week as time is limited and you will want to stop working for the occasional rum punch. You are in the Caribbean after all!
Unlike many other training centres, because of our location, south of the Hurricane Belt, we deliver ASA courses all year and anytime is perfect time to learn to sail in Grenada.

A Brief Overview of What to Expect During Your Training Week
You will have an interesting and varied week taking your ASA sailing courses. You will be living in close quarters with your other crew members and instructor, learning how to become a skipper, and working as a team. Over the course of a week when you learn to sail in Grenada, you will gain the knowledge and skills to bareboat charter anywhere in the world. It may kick start you onto your own boat ownership dreams and sailing adventures!
The yacht you will be sailing on will be from Horizon Yacht Charters. The objective is to enjoy an adventure, learning vacation; a holiday with a difference -part activity, part relaxation, totally memorable. The emphasis is on learning how to sail safely, through plenty of practice. You will be working together, cooking together, eating together. Furthermore, you will be doing this in a beautiful part of the world.
It will be an early start in the mornings, learning new skills, with the guidance of your experienced instructor. Each day you will set sail, heading to a new destination for the evening. Along the way you will be practising and refining your newly learned skills. Finally, once anchored for the evening, there will be free time to spend exploring, snorkelling, fishing, and relaxing… and maybe a rum punch or two!
